Hydrogen-rich natural gas hydrates formation kinetics in the presence of promoters

چکیده

Commercial exploitation of hydrogen-rich natural gas (CH4/C2H6/H2, HRNG) requires the development a technology platform for safe and economical transportation storage. Recent discoveries confirm that HRNG mixtures can be stored in hydrates under moderate pressure temperature conditions. Here, we demonstrate enhanced uptake mixture clathrate hydrate catalysts by two different classes promoters three configurations H2 mol% (33%–80%) feed gas. The experimental study confirmed positive effect on formation kinetics further indicates promoter selection should based mixture. observations showed kinetic (KP) were effective at low concentration (33 mol%), while thermodynamic (TP) high (70–80 mol%) This difference (in presence promoters) suggests CH4 /C2H6 controls crystal structure, affects cage occupancy, overall is influenced competition between liquid gaseous TP. In addition, authors commented current research gaps provided reader with directions future research. results this work will contribute to synthesis via various routes, such as novel promoters.

Natural Gas Hydrates

Sir Humphry Davy witnessed the first chlorine hydrate crystallizing in 1811. Couple of century later his discovery, natural gas hydrates has begun to play an important role in energy business. From being a mere chemical curiosity, they have proven to be a nuisance for the natural gas industry. The problem of hydrate induced blockage in “wet gas” flow systems has been widely reported and became ...

Formation Kinetics of Structure H Gas Hydrate

This paper investigates the kinetics of structure H (sH) formation kinetics above and below the structure I (sI) formation equilibrium curve at temperatures of between 2°C and 6°C. Methane was used as a help gas and methylcyclohexane (MCH) was used as sH former. It was concluded that in the points above the sI formation equilibrium curve, at the first, the sI forms, and then converts to sH be...

Kinetics of the Formation and Dissociation of Gas Hydrates from CO2-CH4 Mixtures

Sequestration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the form of its hydrates in natural methane (CH4) hydrate reservoirs, via CO2/CH4 exchange, is an attractive pathway that also yields valuable CH4 gas as product. In this paper, we describe a macroscale experiment to form CO2 and CH4-CO2 hydrates, under seafloor-mimic conditions, in a vessel fitted with glass windows that provides visualization of hydrat...
